After watching the original Beverly Hills Chihuahua movie for the first time, I decided to check and see if there were any sequels. To my surprise, I found two sequels available, so I ordered the second one on Netflix and watched it last night. While it features a few new faces (and voices), there are still lots of familiar ones from the original. Here we'll take a look at this sequel in our Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 review
A Little Bit About The Movie...
Originally released on February 1, 2011, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 is the sequel to the Disney comedy centering Beverly Hills Chihuahua. It features some notable stars including George Lopez, Odette Yustman, Zachary Gordon, Emily Osment, Madison Pettis, Chantilly Spalan, Erin Cahill, Marcus Caloma and several others. Unfortunately, the sequel lacks Viv (played by Jamie Less Curtis). She's one of my favorite actresses and is sorely missed this go-round. With that said, there's still plenty of stardom and talent to go around in this sequel.
Plot (Spoiler Alert!)
If you watched the original Beverly Hills Chihuahua, you might remember the happy ending in which Chloe and Pappi finally ended up together. Well, Beverley Hills Chihuahua 2 takes place after the two loving Chihuahuas have gotten married and had puppies. Now, they are trying to juggle the parenting act with a total of five other puppies terrorizing aunt Viv's house while she's away.
While Vivian is away, Papi's owner Sam is left in charge of watching the wild pack of Chihuahuas. Sam takes them back to his parents where he finds evidence they are at risk of losing of losing their house. Papi, Chloe and the rest of the group devise a plan to $50,000 at the Beverly Hills Dog Show. The former winner of the show, a pampered poodle named Appoline, wins yet again because Papi failed to have the necessary breed papers. In the wake of their loss, the puppies head to LA to find Delgado when they get caught up in a bank robbery. Long story short, Chloe, Pappi and Delgado see the puppies in a news coverage on TV. They immediately travel to the bank to rescue them but are too late. However, they're able to track them down by scent and eventually find the puppies, foil the robbery and receive a hefty reward which is used to save the house.
My Thoughts on Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2
Overall, it was a funny and entertaining movie that I would love to watch again. Is it as good as the original? It's hard to say, as they have completely different plots. If you haven't seen the sequel, though, I recommend that you at least check it out once. Along with some of the original Chihuahua faces, and voices, there are plenty of new puppies which are simply adorable to watch.
