When you travel with your Chihuahua, you should consider using a carrier to help ensure their safety and comfort. Even if your Chihuahua stays inside 90% of the time, at some point in their life, you're likely to have to travel with them, either to a new home, friends house, or just around town. A carrier or travel bag will make travels with your chihuahua an easier and more enjoyable task for the both of you.

If you're anything like me, then you probably love taking your Chihuahua around to different places with you. But, when you're forced to walk your Chihuahua on a leash, it can be burdensome having to keep an eye on them. By using a Chihuahua carrier, though, you can simply throw it over a shoulder and carry your Chihuahua along as such. This way your Chihuahua remains safe and secure under shoulder, and you'll likely be able to travel faster without having to turn around every few minutes to check on them.
If you love pampering your Chihuahua and taking them everywhere with you, there's no better way to do so then with a cute Chihuahua carrier. Unlike traditional dog carriers that are constructed to carry the weight of heavy, over 50 pound dogs, Chihuahua carriers are made to be more mobile and fashionable.
Choosing a Chihuahua Carrier Fit For Your Pooch
What size of carrier you want will likely be one of the biggest purchasing decisions. Most Chihuahua carriers are constructed to be rather small and mobile, however the size and pound limit will still vary. If you're plan on using the carrier for "foot" traveling, then I would recommend a smaller carrier that will easier and lighter for you to carry. If you plan on using the carrier to travel in a car or vehicle, you may want to get a more durable and heavier carrier.
One thing that all Chihuahua carriers have in common is that they are made for your Chihuahua to travel in, as that's their primary purpose. But, the functionality and how they accomplish this varies between the different carriers. For some, your Chihuahua may sit in the middle of the carrier and be able to stick their head directly out the top. Other carriers may have a collapsing side that allows your Chihuahua to fully exit the carrier when opened.
Keeping comfort in mind, you'll want to ensure any carrier you get for them is going to be soft and comfortable for their travels in it. Some carriers have padded sides to give your Chihuahua cushion while they travel. Even with a comfortable carrier, I always put a soft fleece blanket in it for my Chihuahua to snuggle up with.
Chihuahua carriers are produced in many different materials and come in a wide variety of designs and patterns. Some have leopard print or zebra stripes, while others may be more simple with some basic stripes or solid colors. Think long and hard about what style carrier you want. If it's going to be placed in the living room, you may want it to match the decor in there. Or, if you're simply going to use it for traveling, just find something that looks like it matches your Chihuahuas outfits or personality.
