When most people think of clothes for their Chihuahua, they think of the usual items like shirts, sweaters, jackets, and such. However, there are dozens of different costumes made especially for Chihuahuas which shouldn't be overlooked. Of course your Chihuahua won't be able to wear them all the time, but when they do, they're sure to put a smile on anyone's face who sees them.

Occasions For Chihuahua Costumes
You can dress your Chihuahua up in a cute costume anytime you please, but certain occasions just call for a costume more than others. One such occasion is, as you may have guessed, Halloween. If you plan on spending this spooky holiday at your home giving out candy to kids dressed up as everything from a pampered princess to a zombie ninja, then maybe you and your Chihuahua should dress up in a costume too. Doing so isn't as difficult or expensive as you may think. If you really want to keep it simple, just look for a cheap Chihuahua costume here, and find you something that will "go along" with your Chihuahuas outfit. For example, if you want to stick with a spooky costume theme, then both you and your Chihuahua should be dressed as something scary. On the other hand, if your going for a more subtle approach, you may just want something such as a dress and tiara for the two of you. Remember to get your Chihuahua costumes before Halloween though, as they're likely to start selling out as the holiday draws closer. It's always funny watching the expressions of the trick-or-treaters when they come to the door and see a tiny Chihuahua dressed up in a costume.
When Should Costumes Be Worn?
Chihuahua costumes arn't just for Halloween, though, they're perfect many other occasions. In general, most holiday gatherings are great for Chihuahua costumes. I've dressed up my Chihuahua as the Easter bunny last year and will probably do it again this year. For Christmas, I've seen Chihuahuas dressed up as elves, Santa Clause, and even reindeer.
Another occasion where you might find the need for Chihuahua costumes is at parties. If you're having a costume party, you may as well go all out and dress your Chihuahua up too.
We all love dressing our Chihuahuas up in clothes, but one of the most fun pieces of clothing you can dress your Chihuahua up in is a costumes. It gives you a chance to be creative with your Chihuahua style, and it's guaranteed to brighten anyone's day when they see a cute Chihuahua dressed up as something they aren't.
If you havn't dressed your Chihuahua up in a costume before, you may want to spend a couple minutes practicing dressing them up in it. Different costumes have different buttons and mechanisms, and spending a little bit of time practicing taking it on and off Chihuahua can make it much easier for you in the future. Another little trick to help make costume dressing less of a hassle for you and your Chihuahua is to always give them a treat when you put a costume on them.
